Discipling New Believers Online
December 29, 2016New joy after freedom from traditional taboos
April 12, 2017Miracle Connect was able to pray for salvation with 6,317 TV-viewers in 2016.
–Now my greatest desire is to help other people, just like me, says Ahmed, a viewer who has secretly taken a new biblical name.
When Ahmed from a North African country came to faith through our satellite broadcasts, he got personal counselling through our follow-up office. He joined Miracle Connect’s discipleship program and got his own mentor. Considering the persecution that is sure to hit a new follower of Jesus in primarily Muslim nations, it is crucial to give the new believers a strong foundation in their new faith before the persecution starts.
-Because persecution will follow, without a doubt, says a member of the follow-up team in Europe.
As Miracle Connect can celebrate its 20th Jubilee in 2017, the Arabic Christian satellite channel can look back on two decades with significant results for God’s kingdom. Considering the response numbers from 2016, we have the names of 6,317 Arab viewers who prayed with a councelor and are now followers of Jesus. Most of them are from a non-Christian background and come from countries such as Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Algeria and Saudi Arabia. Last year we also counselled well over 13,000 viewers and communicated with over 42 000 viewers.
-When new believers are discipled and get help to grow in their faith, they also become an audible and visual voice for God’s great love, says our follow-up team.
It didn’t take long before Ahmed’s daughter chose to follow in her father’s footsteps and became a follower of Christ. Every Wednesday a mentor has met with Ahmed to study the Bible. For new believers from a non-Christian background, it can be a significant literal transition to comprehend the writings of the Bible. This way, they can also discuss any questions Ahmed might have about his new faith. Last fall Ahmed was introduced to Mustafa during one of his Wednesday studies. Mustafa had just come to faith, and now it is Ahmed who regularly visits, disciples and encourages him as we walks out his first steps as a follower of Jesus. In other words, now it is Ahmed who passes his faith forward.
Most of these television viewers live in countries that are completely closed for traditional evangelism. Many of the viewers who contact Miracle Connect have never met a Christian before.
-We can never say it enough times that it is our partners and donors that can take credit for the extensive outreach that is transforming thousands of lives in North Africa and the Middle East through our broadcasts and media outreach, says our follow-up office.
-Through the great commission, we see that God uses our partners to bring his kingdom into this region. We never need to doubt what God’s good plan for this region is, no matter what nation we are talking about. His will is for people to receive His gift of salvation and start to love each other as God loves us. This is how families, cities, and nations will change!
Here are two television viewers who had their lives changed in 2016:
Accepted Jesus in Saudi Arabia
Sanaa from Saudi Arabia called after watching a program on Miracle Connect. She had never heard the gospel and had many questions. After several discussions, Sanaa wanted to read the Bible for herself, and she was given a link to an app with a study guide. It did not take long before we heard from Sanaa again. This time she called to say that she had received the gift of salvation, and was now a follower of Jesus.
-I am so grateful to discover that I have a heavenly father who loves me. Even if my circumstances have not changed, I see everything through new eyes, she says.
Saved from Suicide:
One day the follow-up office received a desperate call from a teenage girl. She said she was depressed and planned to commit suicide. But she had been watching Miracle Connect for a few days, and as a last resort, she wondered if the gospel really had the power to change her life. After counselling and prayer, she accepted Jesus as her savior. She decided to drop her suicide plans, and now she receives regular support from our follow-up office.
