Pray for Sudan

Since fighting broke out last month between rival groups of Sudan’s military government, hundreds have died and thousands have been injured. This violent unrest has come at a time when 15 million people—one third of the population—are already experiencing food insecurity due to economic instability, political crisis, and climate change.

Many people in Sudan are now understandably living in fear. The United Nations says that over 700,000 people have so far fled their homes. This is in addition to the estimated 3.7 million who were already displaced prior to the fighting.

Hope in Christ

At Miracle Connect, we want to comfort those in Sudan who are experiencing fear and anxiety.

Many Sudanese are living in difficult conditions right now and will be struggling to find hope. We believe that hope can be found in Christ and His Gospel of Peace. We want them to know that there is a God who cares for them, who will comfort them in their suffering and grief. Our team will support them in any way we can.

Using social media and short videos, we have reached out to young Sudanese people, teaching them how to draw close to God. As a result, our Facebook page for Sudan has gained almost 24,000 followers while video views have exceeded 9,000. Our follow-up team have so far counseled 291 people through private messaging. People like Saeed.

From hopeless to joyful

At 41, Saeed, struggled to find hope in anything. He had a deep hunger and thirst to know God, yet he couldn’t help but view Him as cruel and unloving.

Coming across Miracle Connect’s Facebook page, Saeed decided to get in touch with our team. He had much to talk about.

“I got satisfying answers to my questions and my concerns,” shares Saeed, who had many long conversations with one of our counselors. Saeed came to recognize what Jesus did on the cross and accepted Him as his Lord and Savior. He says, “I am now on a discipleship journey to find out the beauty of a daily relationship with Him… I even found out the significance of my name which means ‘to be joyful’. Praise to the Lord.”

Join with us as we pray for Sudan:

• Pray that there will be a peaceful end to the situation—that a ceasefire would soon be brokered and talks would bring an end to the violence.
• Pray for those who have been displaced by the violence—that all their needs will be met and that they will have a safe place to shelter.
• Ask God to comfort those who have been separated from family during this upheaval. Also lift up those already outside the country, worrying for their loved ones back home.
• Pray especially for children and young people caught up in this situation. They will no doubt be frightened and potentially traumatized.

Pray that all the darkness that has been covering Sudan for so long will be turned by God’s mighty hand into light, peace, joy, and more blessings for all Sudanese people.
