Finding faith on a mountain

There are many references to mountains in the Bible. They seem to be places of significance in both the Old and New Testaments.

Mountains are majestic places, reached not without effort. They are often the place where God meets with His people.

The sheikh on the mountain

On a recent trip to the mountains near his home, a member of our team and his family came across Zaher*, an old sheikh who was playing music and collecting herbs to sell. He felt this meeting was significant, so he shared his faith with this elderly man who—as it turned out—was ready to accept and give his life to Jesus.

Pray that Zaher will continue to know God’s love and the peace that comes with salvation in Christ. May he be a keen disciple with a strong, deep-rooted faith, and receive much love and support from the local church.

As a sheikh (family or tribal leader), Zaher will have a lot of influence and respect within his community, so pray that he will tell others of his faith and bring many into God’s kingdom.

A solid understanding

As you know, Miracle Connect is a disciple-making ministry, seeking to firmly establish people in their faith as well as to help them grow in their gifting.

Discipleship is one of our three key priorities for 2021.

We’re developing a fuller curriculum so that more will have a solid understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus as well as the ability to read and apply scripture to their lives. This will shape individuals for leadership roles and result in the multiplication of the church.

How 2021 is going

In 2021, we have so far launched 10 discipleship groups, which are mainly being led by members of the group itself. These individuals come from Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia, and Yemen.

So far this year, 177 people have taken part in online discipleship, 29 of whom are in the groups above. We feel blessed and grateful to God for these men and women.
