Bushra, 21, from Iraq

Bushra, from Iraq, contacted our team, wanting help with discipleship. At 21, she had already privately rejected the strict religion of her family and culture. Her desire for the truth had led her to faith in Christ.

‘I had an endless craving for knowledge,’ writes Bushra, ‘and a deep desire to know Jesus Christ and introduce Him to my family.’

By the time she contacted our team, Bushra had already introduced two of her relatives to Christ, including a sister. She did this despite her mother’s threat to kill her if she converted to Christianity. Bushra also rejected a tempting offer to move to Europe, where she’d be safe from persecution. ‘I want to win my family for Christ,’ she writes, ‘and if I had traveled, I would have lost them forever.’

Bushra is a natural evangelist and is sensitive to the Spirit’s leading, even to the point of changing university course. Her obedience has provided many opportunities to share about Jesus with colleagues.

‘I have been so grateful for the plans He has made for me,’ writes Bushra. ‘Now I am continuing my journey of discipleship, to know more about Jesus Christ and bring others to know Him. God bless you.’
