Overcoming depression with the love of Jesus
July 10, 2023Violence in the home leads to violence in society.
Did you know that 82-88% of homes in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are impacted by domestic violence? Approximately 106 million (8 out of 10) children, aged 2 to 14, are subjected to some type of violent discipline at home from their parents or caretakers. In more extreme cases, since the Syrian refugee crisis began, multiple incidents have been reported of angry refugee fathers beating or burning their children to death ‒ especially during the pandemic and lockdowns where there was little access to external support and supplies.
Eliminating domestic violence, child abuse and neglect starts by allowing parents to feel seen and heard! By offering a platform for parents to express their frustrations, difficulties, and worries about the future, and providing advice, mental health support and the spiritual tools to manage stress and anger.
Below we share about a program on Miracle Connect created for this purpose: to support families in the MENA with godly advice and spiritual tools. We also share a testimony from a 21-year-old viewer, Ragaa, who overcame depression after giving her life to Christ through Miracle Connect.

A program for restoring families
The show A Couple in an Official Duty focuses on answering parents’ questions and provide solutions to family difficulties. With many parents struggling with poor parenting practices and mental health, the program’s objective is to raise awareness among young couples about parental mental health and promote positive parenting methods that foster healthy parent-child relationships.

Miracle Connect’s evangelism and follow-up team interacts with parents to understand their needs and offer support through biblical teachings. Key topics covered in the program include fixing marital relationships, managing anger in raising children, supporting mothers’ mental health, and distinguishing between discipline and punishment in parenting.
Throughout its broadcast, the program has helped many parents learn positive parenting techniques and counseled mothers on various issues, such as modifying children’s behaviors and guiding them towards a strong relationship with Christ.
Overcoming depression with the love of Jesus
“My name is Ragaa and I am 21 year’s old. I was desperate, scared and weary of living. I was taken aback by the kindness and ease with which the Miracle Connect team spoke to me.
They provided numerous useful and important tips, suggestions, and practical strategies to deal with depression.

They talked to me about Jesus and explained his life and ministry to me step by step, and the concept of Christian faith. I was thrilled to have this type of communication, which resembled a dialogue of questions, responses, and comments.
Finally the counselor asked if I would accept the opportunity for salvation, as well as God’s mercy and love, and become a follower of Jesus. I accepted Jesus and invited him into my heart without hesitation.
I’ve now joined the discipleship program in order to deepen my love for Jesus Christ and progress in my Christian faith.”
Ragaa was one of potentially 70 million women in the MENA who suffer from depression. The Miracle Connect team helped Ragaa express her troubles, see her value through God’s eyes and realize that she is unconditionally loved and always supported and protected by her Creator. By supporting the millions of women struggling with their mental health, we are preparing and spiritually equipping them for their influential role as parents of the next generation of Middle Easterners.
