Secret viewers in the desert
February 26, 2010Miracle Channel received a total of 119, 234 responses from viewers in 2009. This is more than twice as many as in 2007.
As the final numbers were added up the responses from Arabs watching the Miracle Channel in 2009 nearly topped the scale at 120,000. This is an increase of 20,000 from 2008, and an increase of 67,000 from 2007.
The leader of Miracle Channel’s follow up office believes that one of the main reasons for this is easy internet access to the internet many more in the arab world now have.
-Before, nearly everyone had a satellite dish in their home. Now, nearly all homes in the Arab world have internet connection, making it much easier for viewers to contact us, says the leader of the follow-up office.
He also believes that the live broadcasts that started up in September are attracting a wider audience, although it is too early to factor these numbers into the response for 2009. A large number of new viewers were also added after Miracle Channel started broadcasting on NileSat AB4a in December.
-I often say that Christian media work is reaching more people for Christ in the Arab world than what has been reached over the last 2000 years.
He says that he is certain that the number of viewers who call in are just the top of the iceberg in comparison to the number of people who are impacted by the channel.
-Most viewers will never contact us for fear of persecution. That’s why we are so amazed at the high numbers we are getting, particularly from the Arab peninsula.
He adds that he just came off the phone with a viewer in Saudi Arabia. He had spoken to the same man in 2005 when the viewer first came to know Christ as his saviour after watching the channel.
-Now he told me that he was leading and teaching a group of new believers that met regularly. We know that the change that happens in the viewers are real when they reach out for Jesus, their lives do change and if affects many people around them.
