november 11, 2016The first Christian television series made by people in Yemen.
As his questions were answered by our follow-up office, it did not take long before Jalal decided to become a follower of Jesus.
Yemen is a nation fighting for its very existence. A civil war has claimed over 3000 lives during the past year. The country has also become a haven for terrorist groups such as ISIL and Al-Qaida, creating havoc and ruin for the general population.
This impoverished nation is also facing a humanitarian crisis. As many as 80 percents of its people are in need of humanitarian aid. With a population of 26, 5 million, unofficial numbers estimate that the number of indigenous Christians are as few as 2,500, according to Gatestone Institute.
A new television series on Miracle Channel is made for viewers like Jalal. It features Christian Yemenis sharing Bible stories in their dialect while clad in tribal clothing. The program is filmed in a traditional Diwaniya, the room where men across the Arab region would gather to discuss political and religious matters.
The lessons will specifically target the average person in Yemen and how the audience can benefit from them in their daily lives. We also hope the program will give the Christians in Yemen a bolder vision for the future. The lessons include parables such as the Prodigal son, the good Samaritan and the Wedding Feast.
Jalal continues to receive regular follow-up, and today he participates in an online discipleship program to grow in his faith.
“Please pray that my wife and children will also accept Christ”, he asked in a recent e-mail.
